Join the battle and take out enemy tanks
Modern Cannon Strike is a free game set in an unspecified military conflict. You control a stationary rocket launcher and have the job of hitting all enemy targets. You must aim well because you have only a limited number of shots.
The game's title is obviously designed to evoke Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In practice, however, it turns out to be closer to small-scale games like Naval Submarine War Zone. Instead of recreating the complexity of a modern battlefield, it focuses on simple target shooting.
Eliminate the targets
Although Modern Cannon Strike takes place in a 3D playing field, the controls are handled via a 2D map. By dragging a cursor along the map and releasing it, you can launch projectiles at your chosen target. The idea is to eliminate all enemy targets that are shown on the map. Once you have done so, you'll complete the mission.
Static and moving targets
Enemy targets range from tanks to marching troops. Some are static, while others move, meaning that you will need to time your shots well. Certain missions include explosive drums in the terrain, which you can hit to take out enemies. Others have arches that shield enemy targets from view, making it trickier for you.
New additions in later missions
The gameplay is simple, although later levels add a few new elements for more complexity. In some missions, you'll need to avoid hitting friendly units, while others feature enemy guns that can intercept your shots if you fire at the wrong time. There are also battle levels where you compete against an enemy gunner to take out tanks first.
Good for short bursts
Even with the novel additions mentioned above, the gameplay in Modern Cannon Strike gets repetitive. Like many other free time-killing games, it is best suited to play in short bursts.
